I was on a writing course with Elizabeth Knox as guest speaker a few years ago.
I remember her saying at one point in her career she was writing two novels and that she’d never try it again. Shoot! I thought at the time. That’s crazy.
Confession.
I have three manuscripts on the go. In my defence, they are all at different stages and I have had intensive stabs at them rather than dipping in and out constantly.
The Sunset Clause has had a formal assessment and a rewrite, and I’m plucking up the courage to send it out into the big wide world.
The Mission is my follow up to Before the Rising. I really like the characters, but they went way off script (yes, it does happen) and I decided to give them a break before trying to come to a compromise with them. That’s the thanks I get for introducing new characters!
And finally, I’ve just finished a first draft of the novel I’ve been waiting to write for the past four years, currently called Fight. This one is very dear to my heart and will be the scariest to hand over for critique – not least because it’s my first piece of first person writing. Wish me well!
